Overview
FingerDict is a camera-based translation app that translates English words into your chosen target language using finger pointing. 19 languages are supported. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
Short version: FingerDict does not collect, store, or share any personal data. All processing happens on your device.
Camera Access
FingerDict requires access to your iPhone's camera to:
- Detect the position of your finger in real time
- Recognize English text in the camera's field of view
- Display the translation of the word you are pointing at
Camera data is never stored, recorded, or transmitted. Video frames are processed entirely on-device using Apple's on-device frameworks. Nothing from the camera leaves your device.
Translation
FingerDict uses Apple's Translation framework to translate English into your selected target language. Translation requests are processed on-device after an initial language pack download managed by Apple. For details on Apple's Translation privacy practices, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data We Do Not Collect
FingerDict does not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or contact information
- Location data (GPS or IP-based)
- Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, or similar)
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Crash reports or diagnostics (no third-party SDK)
- Photos, videos, or audio recordings
- Any information linked to your Apple ID
Data Storage
FingerDict stores your selected target language preference on-device using standard iOS settings storage. No other user data is stored persistently. Any in-memory cache of translations (held only for the duration of the app session) is discarded when the app is closed.

No advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or social media frameworks are used. FingerDict makes no network requests beyond the initial language pack download managed by Apple.
Children's Privacy
FingerDict does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (COPPA) or under 16 (GDPR). The app is suitable for all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Significant changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
